In 2015, Shermandi Chkuaseli was officially appointed as the new art director of the ensemble "Erisioni."
Shermandi Chkuaseli’s creative biography starts back in 1980, when he was enrolled in the Kutaisi State Song and Dance Ensemble as an actor and singer. Since 1984, he has been appointed as the principal choirmaster of the same ensemble. At the same time, he studied at the Kutaisi M. Balanchivadze Music School, and then at the Kutaisi State Conservatory, majoring in vocals. The largest part of his work is associated with the “Erisioni” ensemble, where he has been appointed as chief conductor since 1994. Mr. Shermandi Chkuaseli has made a great contribution to the creative progress of the ensemble. He is a participant in all the major projects that “Erisioni” has implemented together with foreign producers. This period is called the “Golden Age” of the ensemble. (2000-2007)
and has been successfully fulfilling his duties to this day, which has determined the creative progress of the ensemble, its development and popularization worldwide. It is very important that under the leadership of Shermandi Chkuaseli, the ensemble has made audio recordings of several dozen od Georgian folk songs, which include the best and most diverse samples of songs from all corners of the country. These are the songs included in the given album. In 2002 for his contribution to Georgian culture, namely the development of folk art and its popularization, Shermandi Chkuaseli was awarded the Order of Honor.
